The Uvita Add-On Pattern by Itch to Stitch

My first Pattern Test of 2019 is a good one!! The Uvita Add-On Pattern by Itch to Stitch.

The Uvita Top by Itch to Stitch was released last year as a free pattern. It is such a great staple pattern. The original Uvita is a relaxed, knit top that has a drop shoulder and 2 sleeve options. I have seen a lot of pattern hacks done on the pattern this year, but I am excited to say that Kennis has done the work for you and released a new Add-on pattern!

There are so many possibilities with this add-on pattern. I chose to make a my top with a hood, kangaroo pocket and thumb hole cuffs.

I used a very soft cotton french terry that I had picked up last year from SAS Fabrics. I really wanted a comfy sweatshirt for these chilly Arizona mornings, so this was the perfect combination for me.

As far as sewing the pattern, I stuck to the measurement chart and sewed up a size 0 and graded out to a size 2 just below the waist line. I also took out one 1 inch in length between the waist and the hips. I am short waisted, so this adjustment helps prevent fabric pooling just above my bum 🙂

I would also like to note that the thumb-hole cuff was constructed in a unique and straightforward way. I have tried to do thumb-hole cuffs before and for some reason I always get very confused. For the Uvita Add-On, the thumb-hole is bound and the edges are crossed over to make the thumb-hole. Genius!

Now I am dying to make the other add-on options. I have a black sweater knit to make one with flared sleeves and a soft, mid-weight rayon spandex for the floppy collar option.

Maybe, I can stand the cold weather her in Arizona for a bit longer… winter clothes are so much fun to sew 🙂

The Uvita Add-On pattern is on sale for only $4 for one week (until 1/25). You will need the original Uvita Pattern, so if you do not have it already, go grab it from the Itch to Stitch Shop! It is a great free pattern.
