Resolution Bottoms by Love Notions

What a way to start off the New Year! Love Notions just released a brand new pattern, The Resolution Bottoms. This pattern is packed with options! The Resolution Bottoms pattern comes with 5 views: Joggers, Straight Leg Yoga Pants, Boot Cut Yoga Pants, Leggings and Moto Leggings. In addition, there are 2 waistband options: Yoga Style and the Contour Waistband with elastic. Plus, there is the option to add pockets!

For this pattern test I made the Moto Leggings with a yoga style waistband, without pockets.

This seems crazy to admit, but this is the very first pair of leggings that I have made for myself. I have been wanting to make everyday, casual leggings for years, but I was nervous about fit and still looking appropriate for outside of the house. I am so glad I finally took the plunge, because these pants are even more comfortable than I could have imagined!!

I played around with styling a bit. The white speckled tee is a Classic Tee that I made last year. And I think I could live in this outfit!

But of course, I it is still winter and even though I am in Arizona I get really cold, so I also paired it with a long sleeve denim shirt that I got last year from Old Navy.

And just for fun, I had to try it out with my favorite shirt from Rosie Luv 🙂

Why yes, my Husband’s Wife is Freaking Awesome 🙂

Okay, now that I convinced you that you need to make a pair of leggings, lets talk about construction.

I knew that if I was going to make a pair of leggings to wear outside of the house, I needed a good stable knit. I found the perfect heavyweight Ponte knit fabric from Cali Fabrics. The fabric is very soft and has great stretch and recovery (4-way 100% Horizontal, 50% Vertical) and is thick enough to give a smooth look on my legs, which isn’t always easy 😉

The only adjustment I made a few small adjustments to the pattern, for the best fit for my body. I started off with the size small and then graded in to a X-Small for my waist, as directed in the pattern instructions. I also slightly scooped out the back crotch curve about a half inch, to avoid any wedgie issues that I sometimes get. Melly Sews has a great blog post that goes over this technique, as well as a few other fit modifications. So go check it out for more information.

And lets not forget about the fun pleated panel to give it the “Moto Look”

The pattern comes with a pleat guide to make sewing the Moto Panel a cinch. I absolutely love this feature!

Okay, I think I am done gushing about this pattern. I do fully intend on making the other versions as well, after I make one more pair of the Moto Leggings 🙂

Go here to grab this great pattern. It will be on sale until Feb 3rd, 2019.
